Microsoft LAR Teksys has acquired Technology Made Simple Ltd (Tech MS) in a move that will bolster its credentials in the virtualisation market.

The undisclosed deal for Tech MS, which has a turnover of £8m and is based in London, provides Teksys with access to a reseller with established VMware and Citrix relationships as well as being a Microsoft gold partner and an HP platinum partner

Alan Watkins, chairman of Teksys, said that it had been planning to extend the business to develop its areas of core competency, which include: virtualisation, licensing and SAM, unified communications and Sharepoint.

“This acquisition represents the most recent investment decision that we are making to expand and increase our offerings to our customers, and drive adoption of Microsoft technologies,” he said.

“Tech MS is well respected for its expertise in virtualisation and has developed a number of support tools that will enhance our managed services offerings,” he added.

Paul Cook, commercial sales director at Bell Micro, said that the management team at Teksys were clearly committed to strengthening the business via acquisition.

“The management have tidied up Teksys in the way they saw fit but I always felt it was a veichle to make further acquisitions, particularly in an area that was appealing to Microsoft,” he said.

“You have two choices if you want to stay in the game, you wither invest in the skills or you acquire them. Acquisition is a quick solution and is ready baked so they instantly become more appealing to vendors,” he added.

Entrepeneurs Watkins and Kevin Lewis bought out chairman Shaun Frohlich, managing director Simon Ognall and other shareholders for an undisclosed sum to acquire Teksys at the end of last year.
