After 11 years at dabs.com, well-known marketing director Jonathan Wall is
to leave the BT-owned online reseller and the industry at the end of this
month.
But he will not be leaving e-commerce behind as his new role will be as CEO
of Flowersdirect.co.uk, a private
equity based business that also operates with a chain of 900 florists
nationwide.
Wall started at dabs.com as sales manager in July 1997 when it had a
turnover of £25m and saw the business sold to BT in 2006 for £30m. Most
recently he was marketing director.
“I am moving outside of the IT channel but will still be involved with
e-commerce, which is what my core business responsibilities were at dabs,” said
Wall, who leaves on 29 August.
As exclusively revealed by Microscope in May, former PC World Business
commercial director David Gould joined dabs.com as trading director on 1 July
following a restructure at the reseller arm of DSGi.
Eight weeks after his start date, BT decided to trumpet Gould’s arrival this
week, presumably because he has become commercial director.
Wall had looked after the consumer portfolio including procurement – which
transfers to Gould – and corporate sales director Daryl Platt oversees the B2B
arm of dabs.com.
Prior to dabs.com, Wall's foray into the channel was through Crown Computers
where he spent two years.
