Avaya has confirmed the appointment of ex-Motorola and Symbol Technologies man Michael Bayer as its new EMEA field operations president. He replaces the outgoing Carlos Sartorius, who has moved to Orange Business Services.

Bayer will now take responsibility for regional sales and operations, with a particular focus on delivering VoIP and other unified comms solutions to Avaya partners and customers. According to Avaya, he will report to Todd Abbott, senior vice president and president of field operations.

As revealed by MicroScope in June, Bayer left Motorola, where he was vice president and general manager of the firm’s Enterprise and Mobility business, having focused on growing its vertical operations and partner base. He previously served time with Cisco and T-Mobile.
