Canon’s marketing function is to get a lift after
it named ex-Pfizer executive Clare Want as marketing director for the Business
Solutions arm in the UK
to create campaigns for both the direct and indirect sales channels.
Previously, she worked in consumer marketing for
twenty years, including director for Central and Eastern
Europe at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and more recently as global
marketing director at Johnson & Johnson.
Want said, “Business to business marketing is
rapidly evolving and becoming increasingly personal through improved access to
customer insight and the development of new customer channels”.
Combining the consumer marketing discipline with
B2B experience will create an effective marketing team at Canon, she added.
Want will head a 50-strong marketing unit reporting directly to Andy Vickers,
head of Canon UK.
She replaces David Smith, who left the business
last year and subsequently joined Canon as IT director, followed by Geoff
Slaughter, ex-channel head at Canon who now heads up the Korean vendor’s UK printer
sales.
