Lenovo is getting ready to make an acquisition three years after it splashed out on IBM’s desktop and hardware business.

In a market where those with cash funds can make a killing comments made to the South China Morning Post by Lenovo’s Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming, indicating that the vendor has funds and could spend them, have been interpreted as a sign that the vendor is planning to acquire in the short-term.

Consolidation has been a constant feature of the industry over the past few years but the credit crunch could potentially speed things up for those with funds.

Lenovo hit worldwide prominence through the acquisition of IBMs desktop and laptop operations and a further buy would continue to help it expand its brand into enterprise markets.
