Sugar walks away from plane crash

08 July 2008

Channel veteran Sir Alan Sugar had another lucky escape just a week after stepping down as Amstrad boss, when his light aircraft skidded off the runway in wet conditions and went nose-up at a Manchester airfield.

An unharmed Sugar was reported to have quipped he had more chance of dying from the tuna sandwich that a “very nice lady in the clubhouse” knocked up for him while he waited for a car to pick him up. The aircraft itself sustained minor damage.

Reports that unnamed Apprentice rejects were spotted hanging round the airfield just prior to the crash were dismissed but news has emerged that one of this year’s failed candidates, Alex Wotherspoon (24), has elected not to follow Sir Alan into the IT industry after signing a modelling contract with the same agency that employs Agyness Deyn.
