ProtoCall One pushes BI

14 April 2008

Contact centre solutions provider ProtoCall One has called for networking resellers to get involved in business intelligence (BI) solutions after signing up to Oracle’s PartnerNetwork.

But while dealers welcomed the chance to add "another string to their bow", the firm’s call may have come at the wrong time. Said a Cisco reseller: "People are very focused on what they have right now."

ProtoCall One has invested heavily in its BI practice recently, making several key appointments, as it seeks to help contact centre clients maximise efficiency and effectiveness. Business development manager Faraz Khan said he was targeting partners of firms such as Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya and Nortel: "It’s an opportunity for them, as their customers will be crying out for BI. They can take what we offer and package it as part of a telephony offering."

The partnership focuses on Oracle’s Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus, building on a previous tie-up between ProtoCall One and Hyperion.

Despite a "period of uncertainty" after Oracle acquired Hyperion, the partnership has successfully carried over and according to Khan, has worked out better than planned. "Oracle already owns Siebel CRM, which is used as a sales tool in contact centres, so our story becomes even more compelling," he said.

Khan explained the partnership would help ProtoCall One build business in the financial sector, where a growing need for risk management strategies in the face of the credit crunch meant BI offerings were becoming more important.
