The consolidation in the security market continues apace with the merger of Webroot and hosted security specialist Email Systems.
The terms of the merger were not disclosed but the move was described as complementary with Webroot predominantly US-based and Email Systems in the UK.
"There are no direct overlaps between the two organisations in terms of geography, product or channel," said Greg Miller, vice-president of sales and marketing at Email Systems.
He said the channel did not like change so there would be no shake-up in Email Systems’ management team.
"The merger gives more opportunity for increasing technical support, training and accelerating the roadmap," he added.
Mike Irwin, COO at Webroot Software, said the channel would be able to sell customers a multi-layered product strategy.
Consolidation has been a feature of the market throughout this year as vendors bolster their portfolios.
